Arabic Worksheet 61
Long Vowels
If there is a letter a sign of Fatha, Dhamma, or Kasra then let us call the sound.

These sounds are called Short Vowel Sounds

Now, if we want to have a long vowel sound from a Fatha letter,
we add - Alif:

For example:
LONG VOWEL = ALIF + LETTER WITH SHORT FATHA
                                     (Short Vowel)

Therefore to have a long vowel sound from a Fatha letter, we add Alif. But what happens when the letter has a Kasra?

To have a long vowel sound from Kasra letter,
we add Ya Sukun

For example:
LONG VOWEL = YA SUKUN + LETTER WITH SHORT KASRA
                                             (Short Vowel)

And when there is a Dhamma letter, we need
to add Waw sukun () to make it into a long vowel sound:

LONG VOWEL = WAW SUKUN + LETTER WITH SHORT DHAMMA
                                                 (Short Vowel)
